TERMS OF MEMBERSHIP
|
In order to join United Navy Families you must be a Sailor in the United States Navy (DEP, Active, Reserve, Retired, or Veteran) or an adult family member (spouse, parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt, uncle, or cousin) of a Sailor.
All of the information requested on the Membership Application Form is required with the exception of the "Comments" section. You are not required to submit comments, but may do so if you desire. Once that information is verified, you will be sent an invitation to our private Delphi forum.
In order to activate your membership, you MUST enter our Delphi forum and POST or RESPOND to a post within two weeks of being sent an invitation. And you MUST enter and POST or RESPOND to a post at least once every 3 months after that in order to remain a member.
Once you have activated your membership by entering our Delphi forum and either posting or replying to a post, you will be sent information on our Anchors (staff), special projects, and the address for our picture storage site on Yahoo. The Yahoo site is for sharing pictures or viewing our calendar ONLY! You do not have to enter there to activate nor maintain your membership in UNF. But everyone who enters there gets at 30MB storage for photos.

Remember the safety of our Sailors depends on EVERYONE following OPSEC (Operational Security) Rules. (Any posts that break OPSEC Rules will be edited to comply with OPSEC!)

OPSEC POINTS
Don’t discuss future destinations or ports of call!
Don't discuss the capabilities of ANY vessel!
Don’t discuss dates and times of when we will be in port or conducting exercises!
Don’t discuss readiness issues and numbers!
Don’t discuss specific training equipment!
Don’t discuss people’s names and billets in conjunction with operations!
Don’t speculate about future operations!
Don’t spread rumors about operations!
Don’t assume the enemy is not trying to collect information on you so he can kill you, he is!
Be smart, use your head, and always think OPSEC when using email or phone or CHATROOMS!
And, ALWAYS BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS when you are out and about!

The sole purpose of this group is SUPPORT & FRIENDSHIP! We are all at different stages of our Navy relationship…we all have different needs...need different levels of support…have different things going on in our personal lives. So please remember the “Golden Rule” … Treat EVERYONE as you would want them to treat you if your positions were reversed. If you have a problem with another member or group of members…please handle it by emailing them privately. If you can’t resolve the issue…you may always mark that person as “Ignore” so that you do not have to read their posts. Any antagonistic or argumentative posts will be edited to read, “Have a great day!!!”
HTML and graphic signatures will be allowed…however, the signatures must be in good taste (no X-rated graphics). And no profanity, please.
The very reason our Military members are serving is to protect our rights and freedoms…the right to free speech, freedom of religion, freedom to vote as we choose, freedom to have our own individual opinions, to name just a few. But religion and politics are touchy subjects! Folders will be provided for the discussion of anything religious or political. Please do not post these types of things anywhere else. If you cannot read about or discuss either of these subjects without getting angry, simply avoid these folders. (These folders will be monitored…just as all the other folders…and any post that shows disrespect to another member or their views will also be edited to read, “Have a great day!!!”
